Fundora is not a gift, but Tim Tszyu is a favorite, says Magomed Kurbanov

Playing for Australia Timofey Tszyu looks like a favorite in a fight with American Sebastian Fundora, Magomed Kurbanov, a former contender for the WBA junior middleweight belt, told .

Tim Tszyu will fight 197cm Fundora on March 30 in Las Vegas (Tszyu himself is 174cm). Australia’s WBO belt and vacant WBC junior middleweight title will be on the line in this fight.

– Yes, Tszyu has a good opponent, he and Fundora are excellent boxers, they are at the top. Of course, changing your opponent two weeks before the fight is not very good, I know that from experience. Therefore, here we will have another opportunity to see how talented boxer Tim Tszyu is. How confident he is in himself and how ready he is to face such changes in circumstances, as often happens in boxing. He accepted the fight, did not refuse and endured the fight, handsome! In the fight, I always give preference to Tszyu – he will put pressure, work a lot on the body. But Fundora is no gift either. I bet on Tszyu around 60/40. He has to win this fight,” Kurbanov told .

Tszyu has 24 victories (17 by KO), the next fight will be his second in the USA, the rest of the fights he fought in Australia. Fundora has 20 wins, one loss and one draw. In Fundora’s last fight in April 2023, he lost to compatriot Brian Mendoza by seventh-round knockout. In October, Tim Tszyu defeated Mendoza by unanimous decision in his last fight.

Tim Tszyu is the son of former absolute welterweight world champion Kostya (Konstantin) Tszyu.
