International Olympic Committee (IOC) did not authorize the Russian wrestler Abdulrashida Sadulayev before participating in the licensed Olympic tournament in Baku, about this reported on the official website of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR).
The corresponding notification was received by the FSBR from United World of Wrestling (UWW) on April 3. This is already the second decision against Sadulayev. In February, the Russian wrestler was not allowed to enter Romania on a Schengen visa and was not given the opportunity to participate in the European Championships.
— The International Olympic Committee, after a new pseudo-control, published new lists of people not authorized to participate in international competitions. Unfortunately, among them was the two-time Olympic winner, the captain of our team Abdulrashid Sadulayev. Alas, even if Sadulayev comes to Baku, he will not be allowed to compete: he is banned from the Athena IOC. We were quickly contacted by United World of Wrestling and given the opportunity to make a replacement as quickly as possible. He will perform in Baku. Alikhan Jabrailov . “I want to emphasize that it was the IOC that made the decision to prevent Sadulaev from entering, while the UWW, on the contrary, did everything possible to ensure that Sadulaev fought,” said the head of the FSBR. Mikhail Mamiashvili .
Sadulayev won gold at the Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo Games, and the 27-year-old wrestler also has five world championship victories.
The licensed tournament will take place from April 5-7.
The Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
