President of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) Mikhail Mamiashvili told that the federation would challenge the decision of the International Olympic Committee (CIO ) prevent the double Olympic champion from Abdulrashida Sadulayev before international competitions.
Earlier, the FSBI reported that the IOC did not allow Sadulayev to participate in the licensed Olympic tournament in Baku. The corresponding notification was received by the FSBR from United World of Wrestling (UWW) on April 3. This is already the second decision against Sadulayev. In February, the Russian wrestler was not allowed to enter Romania on a Schengen visa and was not given the opportunity to participate in the European Championships.
The licensed tournament will take place from April 5-7.
— So far, apart from the information published on the website, there is nothing special to add. We are currently collecting all the information and will be able to tell you more about it later.
– You don’t know the reasons?
— The reason is simple: Abdulrashid is a Russian citizen.
—Could this be due to ties to the armed forces?
— There is a long list of conditions under which the test is performed.
– Can this be disputed?
“Yes, it is possible, and we will do it of course,” Mamiashvili told .
Sadulayev won gold at the Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo Games, and the 27-year-old wrestler also has five world championship victories.
The Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
