Honorary President of the Russian Olympic Committee (OCD ) Alexander Zhukov told that CIO did not allow the double Olympic champion Abdulrashida Sadulayev before a licensed tournament for political reasons.
On Thursday it became known that the IOC did not allow Sadulayev to participate in the licensed Olympic tournament in Baku. The president of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR), Mikhail Mamiashvili, told that the organization would contest the decision.
“The IOC declares loud and clear that it will monitor our athletes using all possible methods, then ban them, and not allow them. This is the policy of the IOC, and they speak about it loud and clear. They are looking for the slightest clue to keep our athletes away. Obviously this is done for political reasons,” Zhukov told .
Sadulayev won gold at the Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo Games, and the 27-year-old wrestler also has five world championship victories.
The Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
