Wrestler Alirzaev, who received an Olympic license, supported Sadulayev, who was not allowed to qualify for Baku

Greco-Roman wrestler Milad Alirzaev who won the Olympic license during the European selection in Baku, conveyed in an interview to words of support to the Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulayev who was not authorized to participate in the competition.

25-year-old Alirzaev defeated Kirill Maskevich (Belarus) in the weight category up to 87 kg at a tournament in Baku, had the opportunity to participate in the Paris Games and won the first Olympic license for Russian wrestlers at a tournament in Azerbaijan.

Previously, the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) announced that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) did not allow Sadulayev to participate in the licensed Olympic tournament, which will take place from April 5 to 7 in Baku. The corresponding notification was received by the FSBI from United World of Wrestling (UWW) on April 3. In February, a Russian wrestler was not allowed to travel to Romania, where the European Championship was taking place, on a Schengen visa.

— A day before the tournament, it became known that Abdulrashid Sadulayev would not be able to perform in Azerbaijan. Could you give him some words of support?

– Yes, first of all I want to convey “salaam” to Rashid, I hope this problem will be resolved soon. I am sure that a worthy replacement will be found for him both in freestyle wrestling and in the classics, because there is no irreplaceable person. Maybe this will be a path for someone who can get there instead.

— The most famous Greco-Roman wrestler in Russia is Alexander Karelin. Did you watch his fights when you were little?

— Yes, of course, we followed him since childhood, he came to us in Makhachkala for master classes when I was 12 years old.

— You are from the Rutulsky district of Dagestan. Who do you think watched this fight?

“I think everyone, without exception, especially my relatives, I myself am from the Rutulsky district, my mother is from the Akhtynsky district, everyone gets sick there too, I think.

— How many days off will you have before the Olympics?

“I think I will rest for a week at most, gain strength and we will deliberately prepare for Paris,” Alirzaev told .

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
