Hearn intends to organize a unification fight for the WBA and IBF titles between Isaac Cruz and Sabriel Matias

Previously, the possibility of a fight between Cruz and the Ukrainian Berinchyk was discussed

Famous promoter Eddie Hearn stated that he would like to organize a unification fight for the WBA and IBF light welterweight title between Isaac Cruz And Sabriel Mathias.

25-year-old Mexican Cruz (26-2-1, 18 KOs) is the current WBA world junior welterweight champion. He won this title on March 30 in a duel with Rolando Romero. Last fall, the possibility of Isaac fighting against Ukrainian Denis Berinchyk was discussed.

31-year-old Puerto Rican Matias (20-1, 20 KOs) is known for being the unwitting culprit in the death of Russian Maxim Dadashev in 2019. The latter was hospitalized in critical condition after losing the fight to Sabriel. At the hospital they decided to have surgery to reduce brain swelling, but this did not help – the boxer’s heart could not stand it.

In February 2020, Matias suffered his only defeat in the professional ring – from another Russian representative, Petros Ananyan. The Puerto Rican subsequently won the vacant IBF junior welterweight title before defending it against Shokhjahon Ergashev of Uzbekistan on November 25, 2023. It is noteworthy that Sabriel won all 20 victories by knockout.
