Warren: Usik’s weakness remains the body, Fury will knock him out

The promoter of “The Gypsy King” continues to call the British favorite

WBC title holder promoter Tyson Fury Frank Warren continues to consider the Briton the favorite to fight the WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF heavyweight champion Alexander Usik.

“Usyk may try to open Tyson’s cut when he meets him. Well, I would do it. Of course he will try too.”

“Fury had a worse situation against Otto Wallin. Tyson suffered a terrible cut in that fight and won the fight convincingly with the damage. He has a plan A, a plan B and a plan C, and more importantly, he has a big heart.”

“One thing about Tyson: if he feels a crack or sees any weakness, he will take full advantage of it and that is why it will be such an exciting fight. On the other hand, Usyk may feel that after the Ngannou fight there are some things he can use, and I’m sure he will. He’s a competitor.”

“Usyk’s Achilles heel, as I said before, and I’m surprised that the so-called experts never noticed this, has always been his body. Daniel Dubois trained to use it, and he almost got it.”

“I think Tyson will knock out Usyk. As previously predicted, he will knock out Wilder in the second fight. I really want him to do this.”

“I think Fury will stop him, but it will be a real, very exciting fight. We have two undefeated fighters, the best of their generation, and on the 18th we will find out which of them is the real one.”

The unification fight between Usik and Fury was first scheduled for February 17, but due to Tyson’s injury it was postponed to May 18. The event will be hosted by Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The list of other fights that will take place as part of the boxing evening in Saudi Arabia is also known. Among them is the fight between Ukrainian Daniel Lapin and Portuguese Octavio Pudivitra for the WBA Continental light heavyweight title.

The WBC proposes to reform the judges for the reporting fight, increasing their number to 5-6 people. Penalties for boxers who refuse to fight are $10 million.

WBC President Mauricio Suleiman announced that an agreement had been concluded between the boxers for a re-fight. The WBO is also ready to sanction the second fight. It was reported that the fate of a possible rematch depends on the holding of the first fight. Fury said that the contract has a mandatory rematch clause, and a re-fight with Usyk could take place in October.
