On April 6 in Bangkok after winning the ONE Fight Night 21 tournament, where he was also present Malykhin , Ben Tynan challenged the Russian champion to a fight. Malykhin holds the middle, light heavyweight and heavyweight belts in ONE.
Ben “Vanilla Thunder” Tynan, 30, is from Canada with an excellent wrestling background. Champion among juniors, he was able to benefit from a sports scholarship to study at the University of North Dakota in the USA. In ONE, he successfully fought two fights and received a $50,000 bonus for each from ONE President Chatri Sityodtong. After an early victory over Duke Didier on May 6 (TKO, 1st round), Tynan tore his shirt in the ring and turned to Malykhin:
– The whole problem is that our middleweights are holding the heavyweight belts, and that’s not cool. I’m calling Anatoly. I’m coming for you, my boy! It might not be in the next fight, but I’m going, brother. So look around, baby! And it’s a middleweight! There is no middleweight in this world who can beat me. I’m going to kick his ass!
Malykhin did not remain in debt, responded to Tynan and said that he was happy with the competition and was ready to meet the Canadian in the United States (the ONE Championship league planned two tournaments in the United States for fall 2024):
“I’m happy that new faces are showing up.” I am happy that there is strong opposition. I’m glad there are guys who not only fight well, but also perform well outside of fighting and have their own style. As for bonuses, we all know that Mr. Chatri always gives bonuses to those who fight beautifully and finish the fight in style. If Mr. Chatri decided to give him a bonus, then he deserves it. The guy finishes 100% of fights early, the guy is a heavyweight. So I expect it at any time. I think America is the best place to really test it.
Before Tynan’s call, Malykhin had already crossed paths with the Canadian during the weigh-in before the ONE Fight Night 21 tournament.
Malykhin then spoke about the Canadian heavyweight:
— Tynan is an American wrestler and I am a Russian wrestler. Who won? Of course, Russian wrestling! Ben Tynan – in one turn, brother!
Tynan, in turn, also shared his opinion about the three-time Russian champion ONE:
“It seems to me that Anatoly is a really good guy and I wish him all the best.” But with all due respect, I’m going to kick his ass.
