Head of the promotion company Top Rank Bob Arum commented on the upcoming fight of the Australian George Kambosos with ex-world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko.
“I’m looking forward to visiting Perth and watching this fight. I think it will be a very competitive fight because Lomachenko is already old. He’s been fighting for years, he’s got almost 40 amateur fights, and it takes a toll on you.”
“Kambosos is an active and relatively young fighter. I expect this to be a great battle. One of the Moloney twin brothers will compete on the same card. So this should be a great boxing night.”
The fight between Vasily and George for the vacant IBF lightweight belt will take place on May 12. The event, which also includes two undercard fights, will take place at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, starting at approximately 5 a.m. Kyiv time.
Let us remember that in May 2023, Lomachenko lost to Devin Haney in a fight for the title of absolute world champion. In turn, Kambosos defeated Briton Maxi Hughes in his last fight, winning the IBO lightweight title.
