Athletistic / Boxing. The International Boxing Association, led by Russian Umar Kremlev, has been excluded from the Association of International Federations of the Summer Olympics. This decision was taken on Tuesday during the General Assembly.
The reason was exclusion from the Olympic movement and lack of qualification for the Games for two cycles. The selection function was taken over by the IOC.
The IBA was stripped of its recognition by the IOC last summer, a decision which was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in early April. The exclusion from the Olympic movement was motivated by the fact that the international federation was unable to resolve financial and management problems over the past five years, which in 2019 became the basis for the suspension of its membership of the IOC.
The Kremlin has repeatedly accused the IOC leadership of covering up the corruption crimes of former IBA head Ching Kuo Wu and the disrespectful treatment of athletes, citing as an example the recommendation to deprive Russians and Belarusians of the right to compete under the national flag.
