MMA fighter Nemkov commented on Sadulayev’s exclusion from the Olympic qualifying tournament

Russian PFL league fighter Vadim Nemkov supported the Olympic champion Abdulrashida Sadulayev who was not allowed to participate in the Olympic qualifying tournament, and added that he would be interested in seeing the fighter in MMA.

Earlier, two-time Olympic freestyle wrestling champion Sadulaev, in an interview with , said that the head of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) Mikhail Mamiashvili and the president of the United World of Wrestling (UWW) Nenad Lalovich had told him promised to discuss with the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, the situation surrounding his exclusion from the Olympic qualifying tournament, which took place in Baku from April 5 to 7.

— I don’t often ask MMA fighters about the Olympics. Have you seen how pranksters played pranks on IOC President Thomas Bach?

“I didn’t see how he got pranked.” But I saw how wrestlers were suspended from the Olympics. I was following that.

— Would it be interesting to see Abdulrashid Sadulayev in MMA?

– Of course, that would be interesting. When we were training with the Dagestan freestyle wrestling team in Kislovodsk, I remembered that we fought with the boys, and they said that back home, in Dagestan, MMA fighters often come to see them. And they fight them. So it’s not so easy to choke wrestlers or catch them in painful locks, because they roughly understand how to leave, what to do. In terms of impact, of course, we haven’t worked with them.

—What could you say about Sadulayev?

– I think it’s completely unfair. They simply take the favorite and remove him from the Olympics. This is not beautiful. And once again they are doing everything to humiliate Russia, as they say. But that will never work.

— What is your position on the neutral status of athletes at the Olympic Games?

“I think you have to go because people train their whole lives. If there is now a chance to perform at the Olympic Games, we must take advantage of it and perform. Because of these political movements, a person cannot become an Olympic champion. And if he comes to the Olympics and his name is Ivan Ivanov, he will also be Russian, even if he competes without a flag. And I think we should support it. It is necessary for Russian athletes to participate in the competition,” reports the correspondent of , reporting Nemkov’s words.
