Vasily Fomin, winner of the World and European Championships in Greco-Roman wrestling, died at the age of 67, the press service of the Russian Wrestling Federation reports.
The causes of Fomin’s death have not been specified.
“The Russian Wrestling Federation, athletes and coaches of the Russian national freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s wrestling teams express their condolences to the family and friends of Vasily Andreevich,” the message said.
Fomin won bronze at the 1982 World Championships in the weight category up to 57 kg and the following year he became third at the European Championships. He also won World Cup silver in the individual competition.
