Russian UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev will then fight against an American Dustin Poirier promotion manager Dana White said at a press conference.
This fight will be the main event of the UFC 302 tournament, which will take place on June 1 in New Jersey (USA).
“On June 1, Islam Makhachev will face Dustin Poirier in the main event of a tournament in New Jersey,” White said.
Makhachev, 32, has held the UFC title since fall 2022. In total, he has 25 victories in 26 fights. Poirier, 35, has 30 victories and eight defeats in mixed martial arts, one of his fights was declared invalid.
According to White, American Sean Strickland and Brazilian Paulo Costa will fight in the co-main event of UFC 302.
