At stake is the status of mandatory challenger for the IBF world welterweight title.
The fight between the Ukrainian has been officially approved Karen Chukhadzhyan (23-2, 13 KOs) and the British Harry Scarff (13-2, 3 KOs) for status as a mandatory challenger for the IBF world welterweight title.
The fight will take place on May 17 in Hamburg, Germany. Let us remind you that the event was originally scheduled for May 4 in Leverkusen. However, Wasserman Boxing, which represented Scarff, did not fulfill its obligations to organize the fight as specified in the fight contract, and the fight was rescheduled to another date and location.
Earlier it became known that the winner of the eliminator will take first place in the IBF rankings and will become a mandatory challenger for the fight with belt holder Jaron Ennis.
Let us remember that in January 2023, Chukhadzhyan lost the fight for the title of interim IBF champion to an American, but at the same time managed to hold out the entire distance against a formidable knockout, which few people had previously managed. After that, Karen scored two knockout victories – over Venezuelan Michael Marcano in April and over Italian Pietro Rossetti in October, retaining the IBF Inter-Continental welterweight belt.
Scarff, 30, scored a points win over compatriot Ekow Essuman in November to move up the IBF rankings.
