Russian fighter Anatoly Tokov before the fight with Sharaf Davlatmurodov in an interview with he compared his future opponent with Magomed Ismailov .
Former Bellator championship belt contender Tokov, 34, was scheduled to have a rematch with Ismailov at the ACA tournament on March 9. After Magomed’s injury, the organizers offered a replacement in the person of Sharaf Davlatmurodov, with whom Tokov also fought at the Bellator 269 tournament in Moscow on October 23, 2021. In this fight, Tokov won by split decision.
—What didn’t you like about the first fight with Sharaf, if we’re talking about how you handled it?
— I lost my distance and couldn’t find it. There was little time to prepare.
— Now we were expecting some sort of media battle in Russia with either Magomed Ismailov or Alexander Shlemenko. Do you think that as an athlete, Sharaf Davlatmurodov is at the same level?
— I think Sharaf is a more competitive fighter for me than Magomed or Alexander. He is younger, charged and constantly evolving. This sporting confrontation is very interesting for me.
— How can MMA fighter Sharaf Davlatmurodov be stronger than Magomed Ismailov?
“I don’t know which one of them will win if they fight, but for me Sharaf is more troublesome. It’s more difficult for me with him,” Tokov told .
Tokov and Davlatmurodov will face each other at the ASA 174 tournament on April 19 in St. Petersburg.
