WBF world champion – about the Haney-Garcia boxing evening, in which Sergey Derevyanchenko will also fight
WBF world junior welterweight champion Aram Faniyan (24-2, 6 KOs) in a commentary for Sport Arena shared his expectations from show April 20 in Las Vegas. Let us remind you that in the main fight for the WBC world champion belt they will fight Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs), and on the undercard he will boxUkrainian Sergei Derevyanchenko (14-5, 10 KOs).
“I think that in the Haney-Garcia fight we will see boxing chess. These are two smart boxers, I don’t see the point for them to fight the whole fight. In addition, they are different in height, it will simply be inconvenient. But in the last rounds, it’s quite possible that the cutting will work.”
“In my opinion, Haney has the best boxing IQ, while Garcia’s advantage may be his anthropometry. They truly are some of the best fighters in my division. I can’t say for sure who will win, but I’ll give Haney about 60/40.”
“In the future I would like to meet both of them. But, preferably, not simultaneously in the ring, but in turn (laughs, editor’s note). For me, it doesn’t make much difference which one of them I fight, I want to meet both one and the other.”
“As for the fight between Sergei Derevyanchenko and Vaughn Alexander in the undercard… I consider Sergei one of the strongest Ukrainian boxers of the 21st century. He had such fights that all our boxers can envy. I think that Sergei, at 38 years old, still has the strength to perform at a serious level. If it were different, he would not have prepared and trained. I think he already has money, he’s not boxing for money now.”
“It is quite possible that Sergei will be able to compete for the world champion belt for the fourth time, why not? “He, as I said, has the strength and has the necessary experience at this level.”
Aram Faniyan fought his last fight on January 20, knocking out Mexican Francisco Mercado in the fight for the vacant WBF junior welterweight title. This meeting became central to the boxing evening at the Kiev Sports Palace, organized by the promotion company Sparta Boxing Promotions.
At the event, we managed to raise an impressive amount for the UNITED24 project to restore a sports school in Nikolaev. Also, as part of the event, an auction was held with valuable sports and military lots, and the proceeds from it will be transferred to the consolidated paramilitary patrol police unit named after. Nestor Makhno and the Shock Company of the BpAK “Combat Khrushchi”.
