Russian fighter Anatoly Tokov who competes in the middleweight category, spoke to about his training as part of Fedor Emelianenko’s team.
Earlier, Tokov lost in the Bellator organization’s title fight, losing to Johnny Eblin by decision after five rounds. Tokov will have his next fight at the ACA 174 tournament against Sharaf Davlatmurodov.
— Recently, Sergei Bilostenny gave an interview in which he said that you fought with him and were even competitive in these fights. Can you tell us what your heavyweight sparring looks like?
— Yes, we have more heavyweights and light heavyweights in our team after all. Therefore, you must be on their side. I hope they don’t try to hit me as hard as possible. But why don’t I like standing with weights? Because if they hit, it always hurts. Even if they don’t try to hit you hard.
— In hand-to-hand combat and pankration there is such a wonderful thing as “absolute” – when a person of any weight can fight with a person of any other weight. Do you think in MMA there could be a chance for a middleweight to defeat a heavyweight in a full fight?
– Very little chance.
— Would physics decide?
— Physics, data, growth. They are generally larger, their arms are longer, and it is difficult to fight with them. Heavyweights are now both physically stronger and very technical,” Tokov told .
