Ryan was over the limit by 3.2 pounds, Devin was within the regulated weight
WBC light welterweight world champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KO) and American boxer Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) carried out the weigh-in procedure before the fight.
Garcia showed up to the ceremony with a bottle of beer, finishing it on the scale. Ryan was 3.2 pounds over his weight limit, coming in at 143.2 pounds. Haney definitely entered the welterweight regulations (140 pounds or 63.5 kg).
Haney’s fight with Garcia will take place on April 20. Since Ryan has exceeded the stipulated limit, Devin’s championship belt will not be on the line in the fight. The boxing evening will take place in Brooklyn, at the Barclays Center.
Haney defeated Regis Prograis by unanimous decision in his last fight. Garcia knocked out Mexican Oscar Duarte in early December 2023.
