Russian boxers won three victories at the stage of preliminary fights on the fourth day of the European Championships taking place in Belgrade.
During the afternoon session in the weight category up to 57 kg Édouard Savvin defeated Shamil Askerov of Azerbaijan by unanimous decision. In the weight category up to 67 kg, Tarkhan Idigov defeated the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina Boyan Zhecevic ahead of schedule in the second round.
In the evening session Gabil Mamedov in his first match at the European Championship, he won a quick victory over Italian Giacomo Gianotti in the weight category up to 63.5 kg.
Other Russian boxers Yaroslav Doronichev And Igor Sviridchenkov suffered defeats. Doronichev, in the weight category above 92 kg, lost by judges’ decision to the representative of Spain, Ayoub Hadfa Drissi el Essaoui. In the under 71 kg category, Sviridchenkov lost to Georgian Eskerkhan Madiev.
The European Championships in Belgrade will end on April 28. The Russians perform at the tournament with the flag and the anthem.
