Ruiz: Usyk can beat Joshua if he doesn’t make my mistakes

The American does not rule out a fight against the Ukrainian boxer in the future

Former World Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz (34-2, 22 KOs) believes that the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk will pose a serious threat to Anthony Joshuaif he does not make mistakes in preparation.

“If Usyk doesn’t make the same mistakes that I did, but prepares well for the fight, he can beat Joshua. I am sure that the Ukrainian will not make mistakes, he is an experienced boxer who knows how to be at the top.”

“I know that Anthony has a new coach who is trying to give him the Mexican style. He wants to be more aggressive, throw more punches, take the initiative, put pressure on the opponent.”

“But Usyk is an uncomfortable fighter, left-handed. Therefore, we chose a southpaw for the next fight in case we have to fight with Alexander further, ”said Ruiz.

In 2019, Ruiz sensationally defeated Joshua by technical knockout, taking away the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles from the British. Anthony won the rematch by unanimous decision.

Ruiz’s next fight will be against Luis Ortiz on September 4 in Los Angeles. For Andy, this fight will be the first in 15 months. Last May, he defeated Chris Arreola via unanimous decision.

The second fight between Usyk and Joshua will take place on August 20 in Saudi Arabia. Last autumn, the Ukrainian defeated the Briton by unanimous decision and became the world heavyweight champion for the first time.
