The Ukrainian bet on a successful punch, but it didn’t work
Ukrainian heavyweight Konstantin Dovbyshchenko commented on his fight against Hughie Furycousin of WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury.
“Hughie Fury is a very experienced boxer. In his career he lost not to anyone, but to famous and also very experienced fighters.”
“We suggested to the British that the fight be for ten rounds, but Fury’s team didn’t want more than six rounds, because he was boxing for the first time after a long layoff. To be honest, I thought that I would catch him somewhere in the fifth or sixth round with a left hook. I just practiced this blow, because he constantly lowers his right hand.”
“I tried to give my best, because it was a good chance for me. But it is as it is. I held back a little on the blow, thinking that I would give it from the side so that it would go out. But it didn’t work out.”
Let us remind you that on April 20 in Rotherham, England, Dovbyshchenko lost to the Briton by unanimous decision. For Hughie, this was the first fight since October 2021 – all this time he was recovering from health problems.
For Dovbyshchenko, the defeat from a relative of the “Gypsy King” was the second in a row. In February, the Ukrainian lost to another Briton, Jamie Tshikewa.
