Mauricio Sulaiman detailed the terms of the contract, which was voted on by the World Boxing Council.
The rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk cannot be canceled unilaterally. This was announced by the President of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Suleiman.
According to him, the organization once supported the holding of two fights between a Ukrainian and a Briton. Therefore, for the rematch to be cancelled, the WBC would have to meet again and vote. However, this is only possible when requested by both boxers.
“The WBC received a petition, which was voted on by the council within the WBC. They agreed to a unification fight and a rematch, so that’s what we decided.
Of course, if there is another request, it will be discussed and voted on by the WBC Council, but so far we have not received a request. Now there is a Fury-Usyk fight and a rematch,” the Boxing Scene president quotes.
We remind you that Usik’s fight with Fury is scheduled for May 18 in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
Earlier, the WBC president said who he was rooting for in the fight between Usik and Fury.
