UFC Champion Islam Makhachev assessed his potential if he won titles in two weight classes.
Makhachev holds the lightweight championship belt. He previously said he would like to move up to welterweight, where the title belongs to Briton Leon Edwards.
– Will I be able to defend two belts? I’m not sure, let’s see what happens. Good question! Maybe I’ll take two belts and be able to defend in both divisions, since I won’t have to lose a lot of weight for the welterweight class. We will see,” said the Russian according to the New York Post.
On June 1, Makhachev will face American Dustin Poirier in the lightweight category.
