After knocking out Jamahal Hill, Alex Poatan received an invitation from Magomed Ankalaev and responded to the proposed challenge, complete with provocation
Alex Poatan is the owner of the light heavyweight belt in UFC. In the last event of the category, this April, the Brazilian entered the octagon to face Jamahal Hill and was the first to knock out the North American, in the first round. So, next, Magomed Ankalaev called the fighter for a challenge, putting the title up for grabs again.
The Russian opponent proposed that the fight between the two take place in six months, in October, in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. Poatan wasted no time in answering Ankalaev, but punctuated some questions about the confrontation. “I don’t want to fight at the end of the year. I want to fight sooner, so maybe that shows he won’t be ready. This guy is complicated”he provoked, in an interview with the website ‘MMA Fighting’.
Furthermore, the current champion spoke about the location of the fight, as he defended the belt in Abu Dhabi, against Hill, and wants the right to fight in his preferred location. “Honestly, I have to see what is best. I’m here to fight, but I don’t really understand other things, like where it’s best to fight and where it’s not,” he stated.
Poatan seems up for the challenge, but believes the fight should be held in the United States. “If I have to fight there, I’ll go, but if it’s not a good date, then it’s not the best for me. I can say no. It makes perfect sense (fighting in the United States). Wait another month and fight at home? It is much better”said.
The Brazilian mentions the wait of a month because, in November, New York will host the UFC in Madison Square Gardena condition that seems better for the light heavyweight champion.
