Russian boxer Muslim Gadjimagomedov called the semi-final of the European Championship with Sadam Magomedov a “brotherly fight”.
On Thursday in Belgrade, two-time world champion and 2020 Olympic silver medalist Gadzhimagomedov defeated Serbian Sadam Magomedov by unanimous decision and reached the final of the European Championship in the weight category up to 92 kg.
— I came to Belgrade for the gold. Today, I had a brotherly fight when meeting my compatriot. We were born in neighboring villages and it’s unpleasant to box against each other. But there can be no friendship in the ring, even if we feel brotherhood during the fight. Each of us represents our country, although now my opponent represents Serbia. We had no choice, it was important that everyone won and reached the final. This is a sport, and we had to beat each other, we are athletes and we have a normal attitude to sharing the ring, ”reports the correspondent of , reporting Gadjimagomedov’s words.
A total of 19 boxers qualified for the final matches of the European Championship – 9 men and 10 women. Russian boxers play with national attributes.
