Russian boxer Anastasia Kool admitted she was ready to face the pressure from the stands in the European Championship semi-final with her Serbian opponent.
On Thursday in Belgrade, Anastasia Kool defeated Serbian Dragana Jovanovic by unanimous decision and reached the final of the European Championship in the weight category up to 52 kg.
“I met a Serbian rival and I knew there would be pressure in the stands, that everyone would support the local athlete. But I was mentally and physically ready for the fight. I always have a level head before I step into the ring, I leave all my emotions behind me and I go out for the victory. Today the plan was to increase the pace and win through speed. My opponent came forward with force and rushed at me, but I managed to adapt to her and win, ”reports the correspondent of , reporting Kool’s words.
The European Boxing Championships take place from April 18 to 28 in Belgrade. Russians participate in the tournament with national symbols.
