The head coach of the Russian women’s boxing team, Albert Mutalibov, told that the team accomplished its tasks at the European Championships.
The final matches of the Women’s European Championship took place on Saturday in Belgrade. The competitions took place in 12 weight categories and Russian boxers took part in ten finals. As a result, the Russian women’s team won three gold medals and seven silver medals.
— Ten girls reached the final, we have three gold medals and seven silvers. We carried out the plan we had originally planned for the gold medals. Before the European Championships, we had planned for three gold, two silver and three bronze medals, taking into account that there was a very strong field of participants in Belgrade. At the tournament, the Russian women’s team looked very good, but some girls could not cope with the excitement and responsibility. I can note the final fight of Anastasia Shamonova, she boxed very well with the four-time Irish European champion. The youngest participant, Anastasia Kool, fought two preliminary fights with great confidence and she finished one fight ahead of schedule. In the final, Nastya met the Olympic finalist, double world and European champion. Kool lost and became second, but she looked very cool in the ring and worked well, she has great potential,” Mutalibov told .
The Russian team will participate in the European Championships with national symbols, according to the decision of the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
