Joshua: I would really like to fight Usyk again

Anthony lost to the Ukrainian in two previous confrontations

Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua once again announced his readiness for a trilogy with the Ukrainian champion, holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight belts Alexander Usik.

“I would love to compete with Usyk, but I don’t think that’s the number one choice on the fans’ wish list. “I would really like to fight Usyk again and I wouldn’t mind fighting Ruiz again, but I think the fans want me to fight Tyson Fury.”

Joshua and Usyk had two fights with each other. In September 2021, Alexander won by unanimous decision and became the new WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion. In August 2022, a rematch took place – the Ukrainian won a split decision.

Previously, promoter Eddie Hearn named Joshua the number one boxer in the world in the heavyweight division. Tyson Fury responded to these words that the real number one will be determined in his fight with Usik.

Joshua previously said that he would like to have his next fight in June, but he was offered to postpone the fight to September. Anthony has more free time until the summer, after which he will return to a full training camp.

Joshua defeated former UFC world champion Francis Ngannou in his last fight. Already in the first round, the Briton shocked the Cameroonian with a powerful blow, knocking him down. Francis managed to get up and continue the fight, but in the second round Joshua carried out another great attack and knocked out his opponent.

Fury and Usyk will fight for the title of absolute world champion on May 18 in Riyadh. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced that an agreement had been reached between the boxers for a re-fight.
