Judoka Bashaev admitted that he blamed himself for the defeat in the semi-finals of the European Championship

Russian judoka Tamerlan Bachaev said that he only blames himself for the defeat against Georgian Guram Tushishvili in the semi-final of the European Championship in Zagreb.

On Saturday, Bashaev lost to Touchishvili in the semifinals of the European Championship in the weight category over 100 kg. Another Russian, Inal Tasoev, won gold in this category. Later, in the fight for bronze, Bashaev defeated the Dutchman Jur Spijkers.

“I was well prepared and made no mistakes.” As expected, this is pretty much how the fight went. I competed well because I prepared well.

— How did you feel after the semi-final?

– Insulted. I understand that there is no one to blame but myself. I blame myself and I will continue to do it until I get the medals I am aiming for.

– A troublesome Georgian… Did you prepare it specifically?

– Yes of course. I knew I would have to meet Guram at the European Championships, as he is one of the leaders in the world rankings. I felt like I was ready, but I missed a moment. Judo is a very fast sport. I missed a very disappointing goal at the end of the fight and practically had no time to win back,” Bashaev told .

Bashaev is a bronze medalist at the 2020 Olympics.
