Previously it was assumed that the blogger’s fight against the boxing legend would be an exhibition
A fight between the former absolute world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KO) and a famous YouTube blogger Jake Paul officially received professional status.
This is what the boxers sought, announcing their intention to apply to the Texas Commission to obtain the appropriate permission. Previously, it was assumed that the Tyson-Paul event would be held as an exhibition fight, but the fight itself will take place according to standard boxing rules.
The fight between Jake Paul and Tyson will take place on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA. The official information is as follows: a professional fight, the result will be included in the official protocols. Competitors will play 8 two-minute rounds wearing 14-ounce (0.4 kg) gloves and no head protection. Knockouts are allowed.
It was previously reported that the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TLDR) will require Mike to undergo special medical tests in order to allow him to participate in a fight under professional boxing rules.
On June 30, Iron Mike will turn 58 years old. In November 2020, Tyson had an exhibition fight with former world champion in five weight categories, Roy Jones. The match ended in a draw. On the undercard of the event, Jake Paul knocked out Nate Robinson.
Tyson had his last professional fight in 2005. Mike lost by TKO in the sixth round to Irishman Kevin McBride.
