On Tuesday, the Russian team returned to Moscow, the boxers were solemnly welcomed at Vnukovo airport. Gadzhimagomedov won the gold medal at the European Championships in the weight category above 92 kg.
— We were welcomed very warmly. We are very happy. I am grateful to the Russian Boxing Federation for organizing such events, we really appreciate it. And during the ceremony they lit the lezginka and I danced. It came from the heart. I can’t help but dance when we come back from the European Championships with so many gold medals. Everyone is happy and satisfied.
— Is it difficult to prepare for competitions when all you expect is gold?
“Psychologically, it’s overwhelming. Everyone is used to the fact that we will win. I feel the pressure of “you have to win”, but I am already used to dealing with it. The main thing is to approach tournaments in good shape, without injuries or illnesses. I understand that my opponents prepare in a special way for a fight with me. If they win, they will win the tournament. That is why, in fights with me, they give all their strength, ”reports the correspondent, according to Gadzhimagomedov’s words.
The European Championship ended on Sunday in Belgrade. The competitions took place in 13 weight categories for men and 12 for women. The men’s team won eight gold medals, one silver and one bronze. The Russian women’s team has three gold medals and seven silvers.
