European Boxing Confederation (EUBC) Secretary General Kirill Shchekutyev told that the organization would most likely apply to Georgian boxer Lashe. Guruli the most severe sanctions following his accusations.
Earlier, Guruli said that he was offered a large sum of money before the final match of the European Championship against Russian Tarkhan Idigov. In the fight in the weight category up to 67 kg, the Russian won ahead of schedule: Guruli refused to enter the third round. At the award ceremony, the representative of Georgia took off his medal, after which he shook hands with everyone, including Idigov, and did not take a joint photo with all the medalists .
– The EUBC will investigate the Georgian boxer’s allegations regarding the attempt to give him money, as well as his general unsportsmanlike behavior during the awards ceremony. It is very strange that he made such statements after the tournament and not before the final match.
I would like to note that at the World Championships in Tashkent he behaved in exactly the same way. This once again shows him not as an athlete, but as a blogger and a showman.
We are for clean sport. Therefore, it is very likely that, by decision of the EUBC Ethics Commission, the most severe sanctions will be applied to him, including disqualification,” Shchekutiev told .
