“In the rematch with Bivol, things will be even worse for Saul Alvarez” – Rabbit

Former trainer of Polish boxers Krzysztof Wlodarczyk and Krzysztof Głowacki Fedor Rabbit in an interview with said that the Mexican Saul Alvarez expects a more deplorable outcome in a possible rematch with Dmitry Bivol .

Bivol beat the Mexican by unanimous decision in May to retain the WBA light heavyweight championship belt (Super). The contract included a rematch option, which Alvarez plans to use. His reps say the second fight is scheduled for May. In the meantime, the absolute world champion in second middleweight Alvarez will have on September 17 a third fight with the Kazakh Gennady Golovkin. The WBC, IBF, WBO light heavyweight belts belong to another Russian, Artur Beterbiev.

– Were you surprised by the victory of the WBA (Super) light heavyweight champion from Russia Dmitry Bivol over Alvarez?

– No way. It’s still good for Alvarez that he didn’t fight with Beterbiev. He would have torn it for protection. It’s a different weight.

In May, Alvarez faced a real, but not quite spectacular, boxer. Bivol is a talented and sensitive boxer. In the opening laps, Alvarez tried to charge something, then passed out completely, and Bivol did what he wanted. Clearly the judges pull Canelo in every fight, but here too they failed.

– Should the Mexican boxer activate the revenge option in the contract with Bivol?

– In a rematch, I think Alvarez will be even worse. Canelo isn’t ready to fight any other way, and Bivol will enter the ring more confident in his abilities. Bivol’s advantage will be even more convincing.

– What are your plans for a theoretical fight for the title of absolute light heavyweight world champion between Bivol and Beterbiev?

– I have already said that Beterbiev is the best in this weight category. He has an excellent school, in addition it is supported by power, punches with both hands. And so it’s an interesting fight, a battle of styles. My favorite is Beterbiev, although Bivol’s skills shouldn’t be forgotten. But Beterbiev is not Alvarez.

– This meeting will certainly not be organized quickly. Beterbiev turns 38 in January and Bivol turns 32 in December. There is an age difference here.

Yes, the age difference matters. But the last thing that is lost is strength and endurance. And Beterbiev is doing well. Arthur does not take fast, but takes timing and a sense of rhythm. I think Beterbiev was never a fast boxer, and all of his advantages wear off slower than other traits.

In general, we are talking about today. And for me, specifically right now, Beterbiev would be the favorite.
