The fight will take place on June 1 in Saudi Arabia.
British heavyweight Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) commented on the upcoming fight with the mandatory challenger for the IBF title Filip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs).
“Beating Miller didn’t change me, but I was able to bring out something in that fight that was locked inside. That evening I had to show something. Now, in the upcoming fight, I need to show even more abilities. I have to get better every time. I have a responsibility to show that all the skeptics are wrong.”
“You can lump them all into one group, all the skeptics. When you win, everyone is happy, as soon as you fail, they quickly scold you and start talking all sorts of nonsense about you. All this needs to be understood. That’s life. Such moments arise all the time. We need to wise up and understand what’s really going on.”
The fight between Hrgovic and Dubois will take place on June 1 in Saudi Arabia. Also as part of a large-scale boxing evening, a fight between Deontay Wilder and Zhang Zhilei will take place. The main event of the event on June 1 will be a fight for the title of absolute world light heavyweight champion between WBO title holder Dmitry Bivol and WBC, WBO and IBF champion Artur Beterbiev.
Dubois knocked out Jarrell Miller in December 2023, and Hrgovic defeated Mark De Mori from Australia by technical knockout in the first round at the same boxing evening in Riyadh.
