Warren: Fury is working hard and will be fitter than ever for Usyk fight

According to the promoter, the Briton is approaching the fight with the Ukrainian in “amazing” shape

Frank Warrenco-promoter of the WBC title holder Tyson Furyspoke about the preparation of his ward for a unification fight with the world champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexander Usik.

“Unfortunately, he suffered a cut to his eye (due to which the fight with Usyk was postponed). It was enough just to look at him, the skin was cut. He said it himself that it was the hardest thing he had ever overcome.”

“But he works hard all the time. And he doesn’t just train for fights, he trains every day. He’s doing things that he didn’t do in the past when he was probably 11 kilos more than he is now.”

“He continues to work hard and he will be in great shape for this fight and I will tell you why. Even if he was overweight, he didn’t have to lose it because he was in good shape from training before he got the cut.”

“He looks amazing, he’s in amazing shape. Physically, he’ll be in the best shape I think he’s ever been in.”

The unification fight between Usik and Fury will take place on May 18. The list of other fights that will take place as part of the boxing evening in Saudi Arabia is also known. Among them is the fight between Ukrainian Daniel Lapin and Portuguese Octavio Pudivitra for the WBA Continental light heavyweight title.

The event will be hosted by Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The WBC proposes to reform the judges for the reporting fight, increasing their number to 5-6 people. Penalties for boxers in case of refusal of a fight amount to $10 million.

WBC President Mauricio Suleiman announced that an agreement had been concluded between the boxers for a re-fight. The WBO is also ready to sanction the second fight. It was reported that the fate of a possible rematch depends on the holding of the first fight. Fury said that the contract has a mandatory rematch clause, and a re-fight with Usyk could take place in October.
