Lomachenko: I don’t know what will happen to my body after the fight with George Kambosos

The Ukrainian expects to be able to box for no more than three years

Former world champion in three weight categories, Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko ahead of the IBF lightweight title fight against George Kambosos stated that his career in the ring is gradually coming to an end.

“If you are talking about age in boxing and weight categories, then I agree – I am old. But what about the heavyweight division? At 36 years old, many heavyweights are just getting started. But of course, my career was almost over. The question is how long it will last – one, two, three years. That’s all. But I think I still have some power.”

“Exactly how many years will I continue to fight? Nobody can ask me this because I don’t know. It’s a difficult question. At this age, every fight is hard. It’s difficult to recover after fights. I don’t know what will happen to my body after the George Kambosos fight. Therefore, I cannot answer this question.”

Previously, Kambosos called the Ukrainian one of the greatest champions of all time and a future member of the Hall of Fame. The Australian, having analyzed Lomachenko’s last fight with Devin Haney, believes that there are “holes” in the Ukrainian’s actions, and he is ready to demonstrate them.

The fight between Vasily and George will take place on May 12. The event, which also includes two undercard fights, will take place at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, starting at approximately 5 a.m. Kyiv time.

Let us remember that in May 2023, Lomachenko lost to Devin Haney in a fight for the title of absolute world champion. In turn, Kambosos defeated Briton Maxi Hughes in his last fight, winning the IBO lightweight title.
