The representative of the Archangel Michael club from Yekaterinburg, Ali Saldoev, became the second Russian fighter included on the card of the ONE Fight Night 23 tournament, which will be held in Bangkok at the Lumpini Stadium on July 6. The Russian’s opponent will be a Thai fighter nicknamed Black Panther. The fight will take place under Muay Thai rules in the ONE flyweight division (61.2 kg).
Saldoev returns to the ring after a very short break – he made a successful ONE debut at Qatar’s inaugural ONE 166: Qatar tournament, headlined by Anatoly Malykhin, who won the middleweight world title at the main fight of the evening. In the second round of the fight, Saldoev knocked out his Moroccan opponent, Zakaria El-Jamari, a member of the national boxing team.
Saldoev has three professional MMA fights in the RCC Intro and RCC tournaments. Saldoev won all three fights, two of them by technical knockout. In kickboxing (K-1), he is also undefeated with a 6-0 record, and two of those victories came by knockout.
Black Panther has not entered the ring since September 2023. In total, he has fought three fights under the auspices of ONE. In the first of them he was defeated by the promising Russian Tagir Khalilov in the first round (knockout), in the other two he won by decision.
This is the Asian promotion’s second attempt to stage the fight between Saldoev and Black Panther. It was this Thai fighter who was supposed to be the opponent in Saldoev’s first fight on January 13 at the ONE Fight Night 18: Gasanov vs. O tournament.
