The grandiose event in the world of boxing continues to attract celebrity guests
Famous Portuguese footballer, five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and British heavyweight boxer, former world champion Anthony Joshua arrived for the fight of the WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF champion Alexandra Usika (21-0, 14 KOs) with WBC title holder Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion.
The main boxing event of the year brought together many famous guests. Thus, the President of the Ukrainian Football Association Andrey Shevchenko and the famous film producer, screenwriter, director and actor Lev Schreiber (both, like Alexander, are ambassadors of the UNITED24 platform), as well as the legendary Ukrainian boxer, former world heavyweight champion, arrived in Riyadh to support Usik champion Vladimir Klitschko.
The winner of the Usyk-Fury fight will become the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the era of four belts. In the heavyweight division, the last time Lennox Lewis held absolute status was in 1999, but then three titles were enough for this title.
Let us remind you that at the weigh-in, Fury turned out to be more than 17 kg heavier than Usik. Tyson showed a weight of 118.8 kg, and Usik – 101 kg.
The unification fight between Usik and Fury will begin approximately after midnight. The referee in the ring will be Mark Nelson, and the boxers’ actions in rounds will be counted by Manuel Oliver Palermo from Spain, Craig Metcalf from Canada and Mike Fitzgerald from Jacksonville, USA.
Today, as part of a grand boxing evening in Saudi Arabia, Ukrainian Daniel Lapin knocked out Portuguese Octavio Pudivitra in the first round, winning the WBA Continental championship belt.
Former world light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev lost to Swedish boxer Robin Safar by unanimous decision. And Moses Itauma (9-0, 7 KOs) defeated Ilya Mezentsev by technical knockout and won the vacant WBO Intercontinental heavyweight belt.
