Earlier, promoter Krasyuk spoke about the possibility of a unification fight between Denis and Shakur
WBO World Lightweight Champion Denis Berinchik after his victory over the Mexican Emmanuel Navarrete in the title fight answered a question about plans for the future.
“He is a true champion. Navarrete, muchas gracias,” the Ukrainian expressed respect for his opponent.
“A fight with Lomachenko? Maybe Shakur Stevenson, maybe Keyshawn Davis or Raymond Muratalla. I don’t know. I don’t care with whom.”
Let us remind you that on the night of May 19 in San Diego, America, Berinchik defeated Navarrete by a split decision and won the long-awaited WBO world lightweight title.
Earlier, in April, K2 Promotions CEO Alexander Krasyuk said that the contract stipulated a rematch between the Ukrainian and the Mexican. Another option of the contract is fights with champions of other associations, including a show with WBC champion Shakur Stevenson. According to the same Krasyuk, a unification fight against Stevenson is more realistic for Denis than a confrontation with Vasily Lomachenko.
At the end of last year, information appeared that WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson was allegedly ready to retire due to a failed fight with Navarrete. However, it later became known that Shakur would defend his title with Artem Harutyunyan from Germany on July 6, 2024. The fight will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
