Usik defeated Britain’s Tyson Fury in the title fight, becoming the first absolute heavyweight world champion in the last 25 years. He extended his unbeaten streak to 22 fights.
The fight lasted all 12 rounds and ended with Usik winning by split decision. In the ninth round, Fury was knocked down, but managed to get back up and continue the fight.
Fury suffered the first defeat of his career and lost the WBC championship belt. After the fight, the Briton expressed his dissatisfaction with the judges’ decision and declared himself ready to have a rematch with Usyk.
