“I’m happy, I did everything I could and I think I won, but that’s how it happened. We have both received our fees and will now return to our families. I’m happy with the performance we gave to the fans. Usik is 37, I am 36, we are no longer boys. Our careers are coming to an end, but we showed a great fight. I am proud of myself. I was beaten, it hurt, but I came back like a real gypsy king. I’m glad we left the ring on our own. We need to move on,” Fury told a news conference.
This victory made Usik the outright heavyweight champion of the world and the first since 1999. He now has 22 victories in 22 fights. Fury suffered his first defeat in 36 fights.
