Krasyuk: A fight between Lomachenko and Berinchyk? This is a huge event for Ukraine, but I don’t think this fight will take place

Krasyuk believes that this event will not arouse interest in the USA

Promoter, CEO of K2 Promotions Alexander Krasyuk shared his opinion on a possible confrontation between two Ukrainian boxers competing in the lightweight division – IBF champion Vasily Lomachenko and WBO champion Denis Berinchik.

“A fight between them? This doesn’t look good for either of them. This would be a huge event for Ukraine. But would this fight be interesting in the USA? I doubt. I think no”.

“Now they are both champions in the same weight – according to the IBF and WBO versions. We don’t know Lomachenko’s plans for the future. But I don’t think this fight will happen. We can speculate, but I don’t think it will happen.”

Let us remind you that on the night of May 19 in San Diego, America, Berinchik defeated Navarrete by a split decision and won the WBO world lightweight title. Krasyuk also said that the contract stipulates a rematch between the Ukrainian and the Mexican.

Another option of the contract is fights with champions of other associations, including a show with WBC champion Shakur Stevenson. According to the same Krasyuk, a unification fight against Stevenson is more realistic for Denis than a confrontation with Vasily Lomachenko.

In turn, on May 12, Vasily Lomachenko won the vacant IBF lightweight belt, defeating Australian George Kambosos by technical knockout in the 11th round. Vasily stated that he plans to take a short rest before returning to the ring.

Previously, promoter Bob Arum spoke about his desire to organize a fight between Lomachenko and Stevenson. The fight will be possible provided that Shakur defeats his closest rival, Artem Harutyunyan. The unification fight could take place in November 2024.

Gervonta Davis also expressed his readiness to fight Lomachenko. “Tank” will defend his WBA title against Frank Martin in his upcoming fight.
