Athletistic/Boxing. IBF President Daryl Peoples has commented on the situation surrounding outright heavyweight world champion Alexander Usik. Earlier, the media reported that Usyk could be stripped of the IBF world title, which should be transferred to the winner of the Daniel Dubois – Filip Hrgovic fight, scheduled for June 1.

“Under the rules, you cannot include a rematch clause that would prevent mandatory challenger fights for the title. In this case, it is Filip Hrgovic. However, any current IBF champion can request an exception to this rule. Usik’s team has this right, but they have not yet used it. At the moment, the fight between Dubois and Hrgovic is not a title fight. If Usyk’s team requests an exception, the matter will be considered by the IBF board of directors. If approved, special conditions may be set, for example a fight between Hrgovic and the winner of the Usyk-Fury rematch,” Peoples told Boxing Scene.

Recall that last week Alexander Usik defeated the British Tyson Fury by split decision and became the absolute heavyweight champion of the world.
