American boxer Danny Garcia (37-3, 21 KOs) won Jose Benavidez Jr. (27-2-1, 18 KOs). For ex-world champion in two weight categories Garcia, this was the debut fight in the light middleweight division.
The fight went on for 12 rounds. As a result, by decision of the majority of judges (116:112, 117:111, 114:114), Garcia won.
This was Danny’s first fight since December 2020, when he lost to Errol Spence by unanimous decision for the WBC and IBF welterweight world titles. Note that in January 2020, Garcia defeated the Ukrainian Ivan Redkach.
Benavidez Jr. last fought last November. Jose’s fight with Francisco Emanuel Torres ended in a draw. In 2018, Benavidez lost to Terence Crawford for the WBO welterweight title.
