WBC Bridgerweight title holder Lawrence Okolie challenged the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
Alexander Usik can become world champion in three weight categories. At least this is the offer the Ukrainian boxer received from WBC bridgeweight title holder Lawrence Okolie.
Okolie expressed his admiration for the talent of the undisputed heavyweight champion. In an interview with iFL TV, Okoli said that he really wants to meet the Ukrainian in the ring.
– Not really, but, of course, if there’s a chance to get a world title, I believe it’s always better when the belt is on the line. He is the WBC heavyweight champion, so he probably wants to fight for the WBC belt.
Why not, how could it be different? The same goes for weight. For example, Zhang will never reach bridgerweight, but a boxer like Wilder has the weight for it. It is the same with Usik – if he decides to become a world champion in three categories. I don’t know how many belts there are at Bridgerweight, but there’s always an opportunity for it.
– Yes. It seems everyone in Britain has taken their chance. I want to go out and check it out. It may seem completely crazy to some, but I look at him and think that he created a sensation, he is very talented, but I have qualities that he did not have to fight for a long time, including speed and all that .
So I would be delighted if he wanted that legacy – to be a world champion in three weight categories. Right now I am a world champion in two divisions. If he has the desire to be a champion in three weight categories, you are welcome,” Okoli said.
We remind you that Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision and became the first absolute heavyweight champion since 1999.
First, the promoter announced that Usik will not be stripped of the IBF title.
