Lawrence recently won the WBC Bridgerweight belt
Former WBO cruiserweight champion, newly crowned WBC bridgeweight belt holder Lawrence Okoli (20-1, 15 KO) challenged the absolute world heavyweight champion, holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO/WBC belts to a fight Alexandra Usika (22-0, 14 KOs).
On the night of May 19, Usik inflicted the first defeat of Fury in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
Usik became the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the era of four belts. In the heavyweight division, the last time Lennox Lewis held absolute status was in 1999, but then three titles were enough for this title.
Okolie recently easily knocked out WBC bridgerweight champion Lukasz Ruzanski and took the championship belt from the Pole. The event took place in Poland at the Podpromie Arena in Rzeszow.
Prior to this, Lawrence fought his last fight in May 2023 against Chris Billam-Smith. Okolie suffered the only defeat of his professional career, losing the WBO belt.
