Derevyanchenko: If I win against Mbilli, then in the future I expect to fight for the world title

Derevyanchenko and Mbilli will fight on August 17 in Quebec

Ukrainian super middleweight boxer Sergey Derevyanchenko (15-5, 10 KOs) commented on the upcoming fight with the Frenchman Christian Mbilli (27-0, 22 KOs).

“I made the decision to move up to super middleweight to win the world title. Throughout my career I have always fought the best in the world, and on August 17th it will be no different.”

“I will fight a strong opponent in Christian Mbilli, who is number one in the WBC rankings. If I win this fight, then in the future I expect to fight for the world title.”

The 10-round fight will take place on Saturday, August 17, in Quebec (Canada). The event will be hosted by the Videotron Center arena. Earlier, in May, it became known that the Ukrainian and French sides had entered into a deal for this fight.

Let us recall that in April in New York, Derevyanchenko confidently defeated the American Vaughn Alexander on points. Previously, Sergei lost to Mexican Jaime Munguia by decision. Sergei said at the end of last year that he plans to compete in the professional arena for about two more years, and his main goal remains winning the title.

Mbilli, 29, is a Frenchman of Cameroonian origin. On the night of May 26, he defeated Briton Mark Heffron by technical knockout in the first round. The victory marked Christian’s seventh defense of the WBC Continental Americas super middleweight title.
