Batyrgaziev will face Carroll for the WBA interim champion title on July 12 in Serpukhov

Russian 2020 Olympic Champion Albert Batyrgaziev On July 12, in Serpukhov near Moscow, he will meet Irishman Jono Carroll in a fight for the title of WBA interim world champion in the second featherweight division. The tournament organizers informed .

This 12-round fight will take place as part of the IBA Night of Champions tournament. Batyrgaziev has 10 victories in the professional ring. Batyrgaziev last boxed in December in Dubai at another IBA Champions Night show, when he beat multiple Olympic medalist and three-time Cuban world champion Lazaro Alvarez by unanimous decision and won the very first IBA belt in the weight category up to 60 kg. Before that, the titled Russian had eliminated Ender Lutses in October 2023 in Perm.

Carroll has 24 wins, two losses and one draw. Carroll’s last official fight took place in March in Dubai, when he defeated Colombian Miguel Marriaga by unanimous decision. The Irishman already had experience in holding a championship fight – in March 2019, Carroll lost to American Tevin Farmer by unanimous decision in a fight for the IBF belt. In the WBA rankings of the second featherweight division, Batyrgaziev is on the ninth line, and Carroll is on the second line.
