Fury was told to rest for one week
President of the Middle East Professional Boxing Commission Jose Mohanwhich sanctioned the fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion between Alexander Usik And Tyson Fury, stated that the Ukrainian was suspended from boxing matches until July 2 for health reasons. At the same time, the British boxer was told to rest for one week.
Today the date of the second fight between the absolute world champion, holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO/WBC heavyweight belts Usik and the former WBC world champion Fury became known – the rematch will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
On the night of May 19, the Ukrainian inflicted the first defeat in his professional career on the Briton in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. The victory was awarded to Usyk by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
Usik became the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the era of four belts. In the heavyweight division, the last time Lennox Lewis held absolute status was in 1999, but then three titles were enough for this title.

The Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al al-Sheikh, initially stated that a rematch between Alexander and Tyson was scheduled for October 12-13 in Riyadh. According to the head of the promotion company Top Rank Bob Arum, the fight should take place either at the end of 2024 or at the beginning of 2025 in Saudi Arabia.
