The leadership of the IBF did not expect a second fight between the Ukrainian and the British Tyson Fury.
Alexander Usik will be stripped of the IBF title, which is now his. This opinion was expressed by the famous promoter Eddie Hearn.
According to the functionary, the Ukrainian’s request to retain the title until the second fight with Tyson Fury is currently being considered.
However, according to Hearn, the leadership of the boxing organization will not wait until the end of the year, but will play for the title sooner.
“Usyk made a request to retain the IBF championship belt. This process takes about one week. Let’s see what happens.
“That title is not on the line in the Hrgovic-Dubois fight, but Anthony Joshua is very likely to fight for the IBF belt in September against the winner of the Hrgovic-Dubois fight,” Hearn told Boxing Social.
We remind you that Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision and became the first absolute heavyweight champion since 1999.
It was previously known when the rematch between Usik and Fury would take place.
